ON SATURDAY 21 AND SUNDAY 22 OCTOBER 2023 Syntagma Square became a basketball court for the 4th Hope 3on3 Streetball. From 10:00 until 16:00 the athletes of the Federation of Greek Wheelchair Basketball Associations (oseka.gr) showed the crowd that gathered on both days how the impressive sport is played.
The 2-day event was full of surprises, organized by OSEKA in collaboration with the Region of Attica and OPANDA of the Municipality of Athens. 6 teams, 18 wheelchair basketball players gave not only their best, but also an amazing spectacle, which was sealed with an incredible final which was decided in overtime, keeping everyone in suspense until the last second.
From the political leadership, the 4th Hope 3on3 Streetball was attended by the MEP Stelios Kymbouropoulos, the General Secretary Giorgos Mavrotas, who was the representative of the Government, the Deputy Regional Governor of the Central Sector of Athens Giorgos Vlachos, the mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis, who attended the Syntagma with his family with his wife Sia Kosionis and their son and the Coordinator General Director of OAKA, Konstantinos Halioris, who also represented the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yannis Vroutsis. Lefteris Avgenakis sent warm greetings, emphasizing that the “honor” of the invitation to our event was his.
Of course, there were also big names in Greek basketball: Panagiotis Giannakis was there on the first day, together with his teammate back from the 1987 National team, Nikos Linardos, who also brought children from the “Niki Drosias” Academy, while the captain of Amarousiou , Pavlos Xydas and his teammate Yiannis Papageorgopoulos. The next day, Panagiotis Fasoulas, Sofoklis Schortsianitis and Yiannis Giannoulis took over, along with Panos and Aristoteli Zaraidonis (players in Aigaleo and Megarida, respectively).
As always, the 2-day event was also an artistic interest, with the impressive Veronika Sgardelis and the dance teacher, Anna Valaris, Dudek and Hobo illusionerZ rightfully receiving the warm applause of the audience that attended the Syntagma on the weekend.
So what can we expect after such a successful event from OSEKA? But of course the next one!
